Hi! I'm a Linux enthusiast who enjoys pushing hardware to its limits and tinkering with open-source software. If it can be installed, I'll install it – preferably on a device it was never intended for.
[2026-03-04] apt install nginx
completed on Buffalo LS421DE. Stock firmware ditched. Trixie
is running smooth on this ARM hardware. Content Security Policy
(CSP) hardened on Nginx.
[2026-03-09] Developing local thermal database & UI – Version 3.0 in progress
[2026-03-18] Got Debian Wheezy running on the Neo FreeRunner. A long way to go before it's "usable", but we're getting there! :)
[2026-03-19] Got Debian Trixie running on Microsoft Surface 3. Now it's a weather and temperature display.
[2026-04-23] Project highlights since my last log entry. DIY Home Automation & Media
Custom Power Infrastructure: Engineered a stable power solution for wall-mounted sensors using
12V to 3.3V DC-DC buck converters. This provides reliable,
hardwired power, eliminating battery dependency. I am also exploring a UPS-style buffer by incorporating
capacitors and diodes to ensure uninterrupted operation.
Central Control Hub: Deployed a Raspberry Pi 3B (running Debian Trixie)
as the primary automation server. The setup features PCB antennas for the RX/TX 433MHz module to maximize
range and reliability.
Smart Lighting & Sensors: The hub monitors ambient temperature data and serves it directly to my Homelab
environment, while also providing full control over Nexa wireless switches.
Legacy Hardware Revival: Repurposed an original Raspberry Pi 1B as a dedicated Volumio music streamer.
It seamlessly bridges my Homelab NAS and global web radio stations to my balcony audio system.
